March was a busy month....at least
for Shari who made a 2 week, last minute trip to visit Scott and family in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, up in the very northern tip.
Scott and Tara had just bought a new home and needed some help
in their move since they are both working like mad in preparation for their new arrival due around September.
Shari got to fit in a short ski trip (Didn't even get sore!)
and a quick visit to the Montgomery cousins three hours south in Kamiah.
Poor Walter just had to sit home in front of the T.V....
The Montgomery / Gillins clan are building a huge log cabin
(Can you say vacation spot?!) on their property and it is coming along fast. We enjoyed a game of Mexican train, Nancy's
pancakes and sledding in the short time there. Shari took Tara's six year old son Christopher with her for fun and company.
They had fun and also had an interesting time driving through a proverbial blizzard to and from. The truck was barely
able to get out of third gear or four wheel drive!!!
On the way home Shari got to stop in Burbank California briefly
where she got to chat with friends Pam and Carole over her FAVORITE burger from a Southern California chain "In-N-Out Burger".
Shari has to have one (This time she had two!) every year whether she needs it or not!!! (Usually not!)
Shari also got to stop in El Paso on a layover and meet
with a recently newfound Cousin, which was an unexpected surprise.
All is well at our cabin....spring is beginning to dawn, trees
are beginning to bloom and everything is fresh and new. We have spring flowers planted and are pleased to report that
it appears that at least eight of the ten pecan and oak trees we transplanted from our creek have made it as new blooms arrive
every day. The two pecans will be the last to awake and we are keeping our fingers crossed
that they do!
Our trailer "Reconstruction" is almost complete. When finished it will not
only be a horse trailer but a camper too (Front), complete with shower, toilet, electric, a/c and sleeping area.
We are aiming to have it finished by Memorial Day so that Shari and perhaps Walter can attend an Oklahoma Trail Ride.
Shari purchased a new horse from her friend Rita. His name
is Denver and he is well loved! He is getting used to his new home, humans and surroundings. Shari has known this
horse for years and loves him. She is pleased that he could come live with us and will be looking forward to getting him some
company in the near future.
All is on track for our adoption and all there is to do now is wait!!!
We will certainly keep you all posted.
Shari and Walter will be taking a short trip with Mom and Dad
Sloane to South Padre Island to visit sister Teri this month and will be happy to report upon our return.
Walter has been "Tinkering" with an old Checker Cab that belongs
to an extended family member and it is clear that he enjoys that escape from the civilized world!
Sampson as well as the other dogs are doing well as are our families.
Some of you have promised to come visit this summer......we're
waiting!!!!
Love,
Walter, Shari and resident
